Memes, jokes flood social media after power outage across Mumbai

  As business and daily life came to a standstill in the financial capital, many took to Twitter to share memes and jokes. The hashtag #powercut trended on Twitter. Several parts of  Mumbai faced a power outage  Monday morning, which prompted plenty of reactions on social media, including memes and jokes. State energy minister Nitin Raut said a technical failure in one of the circuits of a 400 KV line of the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited had resulted in the power cut.   Laxmmi Bomb , starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9. Hathras case: Key points of UP's affidavit in SC

  NEW DELHI: The  Uttar Pradesh  government on Tuesday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court, urging the apex court to monitor a CBI probe into the alleged gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Hathras. The state government, in its affidavit, explained in detail the investigation carried out by it in the case so far. It alleged that "vested Interests" are attempting to ascribe motive to derail a fair probe. The affidavit comes on a day when the top court is scheduled to hear a PIL seeking an investigation into the role of police officials and registration of FIRs against them in connection with the Dalit woman who died a fortnight after being allegedly gang-raped in Hathras district.   The World Bank President said that it is estimated that the increases in child mortality to persist in the coming years.   Washington:  The novel coronavirus pandemic will likely drive up child mortality rates in developing countries by slightly less than half of the current rate, World Bank President David Malpass said on Monday. "Our early estimates suggest a potential increase of up to 45 percent in child mortality because of health service shortfalls and reduction in access to food," Mr Malpass said during a virtual discussion ahead of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings next week. Mr Malpass said the World Bank estimates the increases in child mortality to persist in the coming years.
